These golden, crispy air fryer hash browns are the ultimate breakfast upgrade! Made with shredded potatoes and minimal oil, they’re quick, easy, and delicious whether you’re starting from scratch or cooking frozen ones.
Peel and shred the potatoes using a box grater or food processor.
Place the shredded potatoes in cold water and soak for 10 minutes. Then drain and squeeze dry using a clean kitchen towel or paper towels.
Transfer to a bowl and mix in salt, pepper, paprika, olive oil, and chopped onion (if using).
Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) if needed.
Form small patties or spread the mixture evenly in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
Air fry for 10-12 minutes, flipping or stirring halfway through. Add 2-3 minutes if needed for extra crispiness.
Let rest for a minute, then serve hot with your favorite breakfast sides or dipping sauces.
Notes
Use Yukon Gold potatoes for a softer inside. Frozen hash browns can be used—no need to thaw, just reduce oil and adjust time slightly. Avoid overcrowding for best results.
