Equipment

  • Heavy-bottomed skillet
  • Wooden spoon or spatula
  • Fine-mesh strainer
  • Clean towel

Ingredients

Main Ingredient

  • 1 cup raw quinoa rinsed and dried

Optional Seasonings

  • salt to taste
  • cinnamon for extra flavor

Instructions

  • Rinse the quinoa under cold water using a fine-mesh strainer to remove bitter saponins.
  • Spread the quinoa on a clean towel and let it dry completely before puffing.
  • Heat a heavy-bottomed skillet over medium-high heat until very hot.
  • Add 2 to 3 tablespoons of quinoa at a time, shaking the pan gently to ensure even heating.
  • Watch as the quinoa puffs and turns slightly golden. Once popping slows, transfer to a bowl.
  • Repeat in small batches until all quinoa is puffed. Let it cool completely before storing.

Notes

Ensure quinoa is completely dry before puffing for best results. Work in small batches to avoid burning.
