Ingredients
  

Base Seasoning

  • 2 tbsp salt
  • 1 tbsp black pepper freshly ground preferred
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder

Flavor Enhancers

  • 1 tsp paprika smoked paprika recommended
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/2 tsp dried marjoram
  • 1/2 tsp dried basil

Optional Boosters

  • 1/4 tsp MSG (optional) for enhanced umami
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes optional, for heat

Instructions
 

  • In a medium bowl, combine all spices and herbs.
  • Whisk together until fully blended.
  • Transfer to a spice jar or airtight container. Store in a cool, dry place for up to 6 months.
  • Use 1 to 1½ teaspoons per cheesesteak (about ½ pound of beef) depending on flavor preference.

Notes

This blend also works well on sautéed onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms. For extra depth, drizzle Worcestershire sauce or soy sauce while cooking the beef. Adjust chili powder and cayenne to taste if you like it spicy!
